About Michael Frantz
Born into a lower middle class family in Northern Ohio, Michael Frantz studied diligently and graduated with honors from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He continued his studies and earned a post graduate degree from Ohio Northern University and graduated Summa Cum Laude. With little or no money he started his own home medical equipment business in 1980 and grew it in sales to over $7,000,000 a year. At the height of his business he had six locations in five different Ohio cities.
In October of 2002 the FBI raided all six of his stores in what was to become a two year legal and emotional nightmare. They alleged Medicare and tax fraud. In 2004 Michael Frantz reluctantly accepted a plea agreement and was eventually sentenced in July of 2005 to 51 months in the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Miami, Florida and to three years of supervised release. He spent nearly 16 months there. Later he was transferred to the adjacent low security Federal Correctional Institution (FCI). In 2008, he won his appeal and was released from federal prison after serving nearly 36 months in federal confinement. This, as he likes to say, was a life and career changing experience.
Michael knew prison was challenging but he soon found out that his three years of supervised release would be even more challenging. After three years of preparation in prison and almost one year of preparation after prison, Michael was ready to help and assist those individuals facing federal incarceration as a Prison Consultant. His book was published and soon became a best seller. From his vast knowledge of the BOP and it's programs he authored and perfected the many programs Jail Time Consulting now has to help both inmates and defendants. He requested permission from his probation officer to be a prison consultant and after an examination and interview was granted permission. Jail Time Consulting started with a boom and continued as Michael was fielding calls and getting new clients almost daily. Then disaster struck. Michael's probation officer was transferred and he was assigned a new one. From day one his new probation officer made it his goal to prevent Michael from being a prison consultant. His exact quote was, "I think criminals need to be punished and they don't need help. I would never have allowed you to do this and I will do everything in my power to stop you." This is the type of moronic individual who is lucky he has a job as a probation officer because he could certainly not get a job in the "real world". Equally moronic was the federal district judge who actually shut down Jail Time. His bias, prejudice, and slanted views were evident throughout the hearing. But more about him in another section. Needless to say, Jail Time Consulting closed in December 2009 and remained closed until July of 2011 when Michael was off of supervised release and finally free. During his hiatus he was forced to shut down his website, find other help for his existing clients, and not take any new clients. What he could do was to educate himself even more in the inner workings of the BOP, its politics, its hierarchy, and he made even more valuable contacts within the BOP. He also reviewed his existing programs, made them even better in anticipation of starting again in 2011. Jail Time Consulting started with a boom again and the rest is history.
In 2008, he won his appeal and was released from federal prison after serving nearly 36 months in federal confinement. This, as he likes to say, was a life and career changing experience.
